The weather stayed nice for us last which meant there was some great scoring in the mid-week medal and the Wallis Cup. The winner of the mid-week medal was Andy McDonald with a nett 67. It is great to see that Andy's custom fitted PING G25 golf clubs are working well. Andy won on countback from three other players and they were Richard Lancaster in second, John Bettle third and Mick Cox in fourth. The top five was rounded off by Andy Ashall on nett 68. The Wallis Cup was won by Brian Wilson on countback from Andy Mitchell with both players finishing on 5 up. Nick Foster was third on 4 up and Tim Dawson took fourth on countback on 3 up from Steve Counsell. Well done to all of you.
We have a new member of staff and that is Wayne Hugo. Wayne is a fully qualified PGA Professional from South Africa. I received Waynes C.V. last October and now we have an opening as Freddie Meikle is moving on to pastures new. Wayne moved out from South Africa with his wife Fiona who is an English rose, a year ago. Wayne quailified in South Africa in 2009 and was awarded assistant of the year as he received the highest marks out of all assistant in that year. In South Africa they use the British PGA training scheme to train their professionals, which means, Wayne is truly an expert in his field. In South Africa Wayne worked at the World of Golf in association with the Gary Player golf experience. Wayne specialised in coaching and custom fitting while at the World of Golf which fits in with how we work at Leighton Buzzard. It means we have three fully qualified professionals at Leighton Buzzard
This year I have stocked Callaway. When I stock a product I have to believe in it. I like to treat clients as I want to be treated when I buy something. That is for the retailer to know that what they are selling me will help me. That is because it is a long term relationship between the client and the retailer.
I have stocked PING for many years and have continued to do so. Now I have found another great company to stock. The Callaway range is truly outstanding. They spend more money on research and development than any other company in golf.
Last week I hit the X2 Hot driver and the Big Bertha driver and I found both to be awesome. The Big Bertha driver has 20% higher moment of inertia than its previous model. That means it resists twisting on off centre strikes 20% better. The X2 Hot driver has a 10% larger sweet spot than its previous model which means it is even more forgiving and the X2 Hot irons are long and forgiving. In testing the X2 Hot irons are 5 yards longer than the X Hot irons.
