Greetings from Maurice Campbell
Leighton Buzzard Golf Club - Golf Director

Greetings golfers,

There was some great scoring in the Men's April Monthly Stableford on Saturday which was won by Barry Wills with an outstanding 42 points, second place went to his golfing pal Pete Gadsden with 41 points. Pete was obviously overjoyed with this result judging by the banter on the 19th hole after their round. Joint third were Roger Guyver and Dave Roberts on 40 points. Barry has recently purchased a new PING G30 fairway wood and Pete a new set of custom fitted PING irons so their confidence must have grown and they must be pleased with their purchases.

The Seniors Section continued their winning ways by beating Stowe 6.5 to 1.5. Seniors Captain Terry Wright said it was a beautiful sunny day with the course playing better than ever.

Driver Clinic

We are holding two separate Driver clinics on Tuesday 2nd June. The first one will be for Ladies from 4.30-5.30pm and the second will be for Men from 5.30-6.30pm. Wayne will be taking the sessions and will help you achieve your optimum launch angle for better distance and direction.

To book your place come into the pro shop or alternatively click here to make a booking.

Exercising for golf

The weakest part of most golfers' bodies is the part they need most: the core. Without strong, pliable muscles in your stomach, hips, butt and lower back, you are prone to injury and can't make a golf swing that is both powerful and technically sound. Please click here to see how you can improve your core stability.

If you are unfortunate enough to suffer with aches and pains, most of us are, Diana O'Reilly is a well renowned physiotherapist in this area who has worked with and helped myself and many other golfers to overcome their injuries and get back to playing golf.

The month of May is National Golf Month. We are holding six FREE taster sessions throughout the month where anyone who is looking to try out golf for the first time or is looking at getting back into the game can come along and have a free hour long group lesson. The dates and times are as follows:

Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd at 1.30pm

Sunday 10th and 24th at 2.00pm

Srixon balls

What ball will suit me?

Last week we reminded you how important it is to play with the right ball because we all have different swing speeds. On top of this our own budgets vary and it can be difficult to know if you’re getting the best out of your ball. Ask us about Srixon’s range which covers golfers of all abilities and watch this video to find out more.

PING Cadence

PING video exclusive

Foremost TV catch up with PING’s Senior Design Engineer, Marty Jertson, to take a closer look at the manufacturer’s new Cadence range of putters. This is well worth a watch, especially if you’re targeting a better season on the greens this year. Over to you Marty…

Callaway XR irons

We're quite sure if you get these in your hands you'll experience some impressive distance gains. However, we're here to help make sure you get the most out of the technology on offer so this extra distance is of actual benefit. We can help match you with the right irons for your own swing.

Wilson Staff Dx2 Soft

Knowing your golf ball can help you to understand what ball you should be playing with. The Wilson Staff Dx2 Soft may suit your game, it may not; you may benefit more from the Dx3 Spin, for example. We can help you make the right selection but, in the meantime, here's a bit of guidance...
