Greetings golfers,

Well last week it was Sergio Garcia winning this week its Jordan Spieth winning the AT & T Pebble Beach National Pro Am. He had a six shot lead going into the Sunday and played a near flawless final round to seal the win. The first Major of the year is months away and already I can't wait. With these great players coming into some great form it's already looking to be a great event. Spieth did say he played "boring golf" on the Sunday which was what he needed to do to win, he played within himself, not going for the glory shot. How many times have you gone for the risky shot and finished in a worse place or tried to hit the ball too hard off the tee and messed up. All players need to recognise their limits and play within them, this way you don't make so many silly mistakes that cost you more shots.

Competition news

Congratulations to Brandon Waddington who has seen his handicap tumble from 54, when he started, to 15 in the six years he has been playing the game. Last year he was runner up in the Grand Prix, won two junior competitions and named most improved junior golfer. He also won the Grovebury Medal in a final against the top 16 finishers in four medal competitions during the year.

Congratulations also go to Lesley Brazier, Anne Tilbury and Joyce Young after they won the Ladies Waltz Competition with a score of 66pts, one clear of runners up Sheelagh Culverhouse, Vicki Pratt and Barbara Rickard. The stableford format records the highest score on the first, best two on the second and all three on the third hole on a rotating basis, for the team score.

MOT your game

We have a Golf Pride grip promotion going on in the shop. We will re-grip your 7 iron FREE OF CHARGE with any of the Golf Pride grips in the promotion. Many players get used to the feel of their grips and don't realise that they have gone past their best. This does have an impact on how hard you grip the club which results in more tension in your forearms making it more difficult to swing the club properly.
So come into the shop and we'll get you properly fitted for your correct grip size and you'll feel the difference.
