We had the mid week medal last week which saw only three players play under par in terms of nett score. The course is obviously a challenge at the moment or is it just medal play that is the challenge? Steve Baines was one of those players as Steve won with a nett 68, with Steve Molyneaux finishing second with a nett 69 and Paul Ahmet finished third on nett 70. Well done guys. The Thursday night swindle was won by Sean Donovan with 20 stableford points. Sean won a £19.00 voucher for his efforts.
We have some new sand in the bunkers. This week we had 30 tonne of sand delivered which has been put in to some of the bunkers for members to give their feedback on. We would greatly appreciate any feedback you have as it helps the club develop the course in the manner in which you would like. Sand has been put in 5th left greenside bunker, the 5th right greenside bunker, the 6th fairway bunker and the 7th left greenside bunker. The sand has been developed by Fineturf and is a mix of sands that gives good, consistent playing characteristics. Fineturf invited a group to visit the Belfry, where they have installed this sand in the newly refurbished bunkers on the PGA course, and are topping up the bunkers on the Brabazon course. The Belfry are very pleased with the results. Stuart Oliver, John Hastwell and John Preston tried the sand, and the playing qualities were indeed very good. The sand was installed by Senior Vice Captain Terry Wright, Chairman of the Greens committee John Preston and our Greenstaff. Well done team!
National Golf Month
It is National Golf Month in May. The plan is to promote golf to everyone in the country. As someone said the other evening in a meeting "you are preaching to the converted". We need your help to build golf at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club.
We have two FREE taster sessions here at our club for new and lapsed golfers on Saturday 10th May and Saturday 24th May. We also have FREE Junior coaching available on Tuesday's and Sunday's. Lastly we are running a lesson promotion of six lessons for the price of five if which you can share with a friend who wants to learn to play golf.
Please click here if you know anyone that would like to book in for the FREE taster sessions.
PING Demo Day
We have our PING demo day this Friday from 10pm to 4pm. It will be great to have PING here again showing off their fantastic product range. The G25 range is truly outstanding and I would urge you all to have a go with them. I have used PING clubs for quite some time and I am using their i25 iron this year which is simply awesome. It feels great and performs well. The other thing on the day is you will be able to go on one of the two launch monitors that will be on the practice fairway. Every time I have someone on the launch monitor I am always amazed at how good it is as it helps the golfer make smart decisions about their game. Come and have a go this Friday. Click here to book your place.
Below is a real golfing experience of someone that uses a G25 driver and went on the launch monitor which is what you can do on the demo day.
Jacky Levinson "I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new driver. I have just played in my first medal round at our new Club and came in nett level par with a gross 87, having managed to make 8 pars - mostly thanks to the extra distance (and confidence) I achieved with my drives. I am so pleased that we checked out what would suit me best with the launch monitor and that I didn't just blindly buy a new driver. Now I can't wait to play again - which is just how you should feel about golf!!!"
Next week's medal has just got even more competitive! Purchase any FootJoy glove from us on May medal day, then beat your handicap and we'll give you that same glove for FREE. That's a nice little 2-for-the-price-of-1 incentive for those of you who fancy going low. What a great time to dispose of that worn glove.
